وَلِكُلٍّ وِجْهَةٌ هُوَ مُوَلّ۪يهَا فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِۜ اَيْنَ مَا تَكُونُوا يَأْتِ بِكُمُ اللّٰهُ جَم۪يعاًۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَد۪يرٌ
Translation
For each [religious following] is a [prayer] direction toward which it faces. So race to [all that is] good. Wherever you may be, Allāh will bring you forth [for judgement] all together. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.

Müellif bu âyeti, s-b-k kökünün Kur'an'daki bütün kullanımlarının "rekabet" yönünde olduğuna delil gösterir: "festebiku'l-hayrât" biriniz kaçsın diğeriniz yakalasın demek değildir. Bölüm ortasında, etiketsiz ve sahiplenme işareti olmadan verilmiş kısa bir karşılıktır.
Mesela, bu kelime Bakara 2/148 de çoğul olarak ve emir kipinde ِۜالْخَيْرَات فَاسْ تَبِقُوا “iyi işlerde yarışın” şeklinde gelmektedir.
